FLOOD
The Mississippi River floods that occurred in April and May of 2011 brought about some of the highest waters recorded for the river. The people that lived in the cities surrounding, from Illinois to Louisiana, felt the affects of water rushing the banks from springtime snow melting from the upper midwest as well as four consecutive storms that produced mass amounts of rainfall. NASA satellite images of the river, before and after flooding, where it flows between Memphis, TN and West Memphis, AR, were the inspiration for this print.
